Doors Open Toronto 2023

Rediscover the city you thought you knew through Doors Open Toronto, celebrating 100+ sites of architectural, cultural, and social significance. Go deeper with engaging tours, insightful talks, an online film series, and other virtual experiences. Doors Open activities take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. More than 100 buildings and sites across Toronto open their doors over the May 27 and 28 weekend. Admission is free.

Come and celebrate with us as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. Check out our 60 Years of Friendship Through Culture exhibit in the main hallway, featuring artist Elysha Rei’s work The Strength in Sixty Sakura. The JCCC Gallery is proud to host Shin Sugino’s Déjà Vu: Split Perceptions as One exhibit as part of the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. In addition, the JCCC will be offering a wide variety of arts and cultural programs. Self-guided audio tours and in-person guided tours are available for Maru: Immigration Stories. Artist demonstrations, Hula and Taiko performances, and observations of martial arts classes will all be available. The JCCC is home to eight high-performing and unique martial arts clubs - Aikido, Iaido (traditional drawing and cutting with the samurai sword), Jodo (martial arts with a staff), Judo, Karate, Kendo (Japanese art of fencing), Kyudo (Japanese archery), and Naginata (martial arts with Japanese blades). Demonstration and observation of these classes will be available throughout both days.
