What’s Ramen and where in Japan should you try Ramen for the first time?

Recommendation for Ramen restaurants in Tokyo and other regions

Ramen is one of the Japanese foods that almost every foreigner knows.
Chances are some of you that have not traveled to Japan yet might also know about Ramen.

So, what’s ramen and why is Ramen so popular?
Ramen is one of the most popular Japanese foods all over the world.
There are four major types of Japanese ramen by flavors: Shio (salt-flavored ramen), Shoyu (soy sauce-flavored ramen), Miso (soybean paste-flavored ramen), and Tonkotsu (pork bone broth ramen).

There are several reasons why Japanese ramen is so popular, but most foreigners get to know about Ramen from Naruto the best-known Japanese Anime.
In the Anime Naruto, you can see a lot of scenes that the main character Naruto enjoys eating Ramen after his harsh trainings to become Hokage, leader of his village.

As mentioned, Ramen is one of the best-known Japanese foods, meaning Ramen restaurants are EVERYWHERE in Japan. In your first trip to Tokyo, you may get lost and hesitate to choose which one to go to taste your FIRST Ramen.

So here is the recommended restaurant: “節骨麺 たいぞう(Bushikotsumen Taizou)”, which has 8 branches in Tokyo (Ikebukuro, Sangenjaya, Kasai, Oji, Ayase), Saitama(Koshigaya Lake Town), and Shizuoka(Shin Hamamatsu, Fujieda).

Most of us choose a restaurant based on the reviews, but sometimes it may not as good as what we expect it to be. Bushikotsumen Taizo may not be the top-rated Ramen restaurant in Japan, but you will feel the THICKNESS and RICHNESS from its NO.1 Ramen -節骨こってりらーめん.(Bushikotsu Kotteri-ramen) including dried anchovies, other sea food pork bone, chicken (for the broth). On top of that, it's very affordable(800 yen, which is approx. 8 USD).
Tip for the better taste: put some chopped raw garlic in the Ramen (of course, it’s optional).

Some of you are not familiar with eating half-boiled egg and raw garlic, give it a shot to taste the true AUTHENTIC Japanese Ramen!
